About Us

Welcome to the website of the North Yorkshire group of the LDWA.

We are a friendly bunch who gather at least twice a month to tramp over the moors, dawdle in the dales or even cruise the coast from time to time.

Our emphasis is on sociable walks and our enterprising walk leaders aim to cover the diversity of Yorkshire's scenery often using little-known paths.

Why not give us a try.

Anyone from outside the LDWA is very welcome to join us on any of our social walks that might take your fancy, but if you like us enough to come out with us regularly, you will need to join the LDWA

If you fancy having a go at leading a walk, we'd love to hear from you. Contact the Walks Secretary Lynn Hathaway.

LDWA 50th Anniversary Celebration

Chop Gate Village Hall - Saturday 18 June

34 participants took part in walks of 10 miles or 15 miles (2 groups doing 15 mile walks and 2 groups doing 10 mile walks = 50 miles) from Chop Gate.  Walkers consisted of regular North Yorkshire walkers, members who do not now walk the longer walks but are still fit and active and a number of guests.  The weather was very kind to us being warm and dry.

We were lucky to have Steph Carter join us, a previous North Yorkshire Walks Secretary and LDWA Membership Secretary.   A social event followed the walk with a buffet where everyone could "catch up" with LDWA friends.

Many thanks to the four walk leaders, members of the committee who put on a brilliant buffet and all who participated to make this a memorable event.  Click here for photos.
