London LDWA

Hello everybody

As the week unfolds and yet another alphabetic storm sweeps from the Atlantic, London LDWA serves up the prospect of a miraculous (and, given the amount of rain we've had recenty, very relevant) weekend walk to help entice us through the next few days.

Weekend away in November

But before we get too excited about this week's walk, I wanted to let you know that there was a good response to the call in last week's email for expressions of interest in the "Comets and Curry" weekend away in November.
So the weekend will be going ahead and we'll be back in touch with those of you who have said you'd like to go, sometime in the next few weeks.   We will also be asking for money(!).
But if you'd like to go and haven't let us know yet, please just drop a line to london.walks@ldwa.org.uk , or reply to this message, confirming your interest.   You can find out more about the weekend by clicking here.
Please let us know by the end of Wednesday (3 February) this week, at the latest.

This Saturday's impossible activity

So now, on to the week's events.   Well, event.
On Saturday, Jerome is leading a 22-miler from Guildford to Kingston which is somewhat improbably entitled "walking on water".   If you'd like to see how this is to be achieved then you just need to be at Guildford station at 08:50 this Saturday.
You might also find out what the "E2" referred to in the walk description is.   A quick check through mountaineering jargon reveals that "E2" is actually a standard of rock climb which is "Hard extremely severe".   So you might want to pack your pitons and climbing harness.   On the other hand it could be part of a long distance path running from Galway to the Mediterranean.   You'll just have to be there to find out.

A wet weekend walk

Walking IN water, rather than ON it, but you get the general idea

Before I go

Please don't forget to let Susanne know if you'd like to help out at this year's Dorset "100" challenge hike in May.   The you can get the details by clicking here

Well that's everything for now.   Have a great week, and stay dry!

Adam
