Starting along the River Severn in the Georgian town of Bewdley, it crosses rolling farmland to reach the Abberley Hills. It continues over the hills of Penny and Ankerdine to cross the River Teme. The Suckley Hills are also traversed and from Cowleigh it crosses the northern main Malvern Hills to the Victorian spa town of Great Malvern beneath. The route was revised in 2004.
