The Way heads from the heart of industrial Lancashire, over the moors between Blackburn and Accrington, and across lowland to Read before climbing to the summit of Pendle Hill, the setting for many of the tales of Lancashire witches. The Way descends to Downham and crosses the Ribble valley before going over Standridge Hill to Slaidburn.
