Three Dales Way

N Yorkshire, W Yorkshire

138 km / 86 miles
The Three Dales Way is a comfortable walk, not a strenuous hike. It is predominantly a riverside walk and introduces the scenery and history of three major dales - the diversity of Wharfedale, the lushness of Wensleydale and the beauty of Swaledale.

It is a friendly walk for its entire length, not a map-reading challenge or a trial-by-bog. It combines original routes with the most accessible stretches of the Dales Way, Yoredale Way, Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast walk. The highest part leads from Hawes to Keld across Great Shunner Fell. Thanks to major path improvements during the summer of 1994, this exhilarating traverse is no longer an adventure in bog-hopping, but is now a dry-shod walk, requiring shoes not boots.
