The Way runs from central Stockport to Reddish Vale and Hyde from where canal towpaths are followed through Ashton-under-Lyne, Stalybridge and Mossley. From Uppermill, the route leaves the canal, following riverside paths to Delph and Denshaw. Though through densely populated areas, there is much woodland.
