Otley Nine Leagues

W Yorkshire

43 km / 27 miles
A 27 mile circular badge walk taking in woodland, moorland, riverside and field walking in the Wharfedale and Washburn valleys with over 3,500ft of ascent. The official start and finish is at the White House Visitor Centre on 'the slopes of Otley Chevin to the south of Otley.

The route passes through Pool-in-Wharfedale, Leathley, Timble, Denton, Middleton, Ilkley and Menston. Parts of the route can be, at times, rather wet underfoot and this combined with some stretches of stony track make strong, sensible footwear essential.
'
As there are no car parking facilities available at the White House Visitor Centre (now sadly closed), vehicles should be left either in Otley, Surprise View Car Park or East Chevin Quarry Car Park.

The terrain covered by the walk is not difficult but a compass may be found useful in bad weather or at dusk. The written instruction should be used in conjunction with the following maps:- either OS Landranger 104 Leeds & Bradford 1:50000 or OS Explorer 297 Lower Wharfedale and Washburn Valley.
