The route keeps near to the border between East and West Sussex, connecting the semi-circular Sussex Border Path at East Grinstead with the Sea at Portslade-by-Sea, to the west of Brighton. Rarely on the borderline itself, this cross county route, running from north to south passes the large Weir Wood Reservoir, Shapthorne, Horsted Keynes, over the Low Weald, Ditchling, over the South Downs to the north of Brighton then turning west before the descent into Portslade. This route is covered in the out-of-print Sussex Border Path publication but is waymarked and on OS mapping as part of the Sussex Border Path.
