A route northerly from Preston to Windermere, that takes in significant sections on the Lancaster Canal towpath and also uses former railway lines, parkland and riverside, providing easy access to castles, pele towers and mansions. En route it visits Garstang, Galgate, Lancaster, Carnforth, Silverdale, Milnthorpe, Levens and Kendal.
The route links with the Dales Way at Burneside.
