Burley Bridge Hike
34 km / 21 miles
A stenuous walk, with 2669 ft of climb, around Rombalds Moor taking in Cow & Calf Rocks (pictured), Swastika Stone, Windgate Nick, Leeds & Liverpool Canal and returning via Hawksworth Moor and Burley. The Burley Bridge Hike was devised in 1996 as a fundraiser with the eventual aim of putting a footbridge over the River Wharfe at Burley-in-Wharfedale. A small committee of interested parties from the local community and with representatives from national bodies formed in 1996 to promote the idea of the footbridge.
The Burley Bridge Hike is run as an annual challenge event on the second Saturday in November each year and continues to be an open anytime challenge event with a badge and certificate available from the Recorder.
