Beast of Bolsover

32 km / 20 miles

Derbys
A route which takes in the English Heritage and National Trust properties of Sutton Scarsdale Hall, Hardwick Hall, Bolsover Castle and the preserved pithead buildings of Pleasley Colliery. The walk straddles either side of the M1 motorway, but for most of the time this is unobtrusive. The villages of Heath, Palterton and Teversal, the setting for Lady Chatterley's Lover, are also visited. This is coal mining country and although the mines have all but disappeared you will find a warm welcome in the communities that they have left behind. The 14.5-miles Bolsover Castle Anytime Challenge Walk is a shorter version visiting the same three properties also with a badge and certificate from the same source.
