Sandlings Walk

Suffolk

The walk is unusual in having two different start points in Ipswich. This is to enable an exploration of either Rushmere Heath or Purdis Heath (on the St Augustine's alternative) before joining the main route at Foxhall Heath. It takes a mostly inland route through several areas of remaining Sandlings Heaths passing through Woodbridge, with its Tide Mill, Snape Maltings, Sizewell, Dunwich and finishing at the pier in Southwold.

October 2025 onwards: the portion of the Sandlings Walk between Kenton Hills woodland (TM 464646) and the coast path at TM 476645 is closed due to Sizewell C construction work.

End January 2026 to end March 2026: the coastal portion of Sandlings Walk is closed on weekdays between TM 476645 and TM 476638 during construction of a 'raised platform' across Sizewell beach.
