Phoebe Smith is an award-winning travel writer, photographer, presenter and broadcaster (specialising in adventure, walking, camping, travelling solo, reviewing gear and wildlife conservation). She is Editor-at-Large and Wander Woman at Wanderlust, the UK’s longest-running travel magazine, and Sleep Storyteller-in-Residence at Calm.com where her stories have been narrated by Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley and Danai Gurira to name a few. She regularly writes for The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times (of London) and is a correspondent for BBC Radio 4's From Our Own Correspondent. She is the author of eight books including Extreme Sleeps: Adventures of a Wild Camper,  Wilderness Weekends: Wild Adventures in Britain's Rugged Corners and the first guidebook to British bothies – Book of the Bothy.

In 2014 she became the first person to camp at all the extreme points of mainland Britain, solo, on consecutive nights – these included the highest, lowest, northernmost, southernmost, centremost, easternmost and westernmost points of the country. In 2017 she gave up her Christmas to Sleep the 3 Peaks, raising money for Centrepoint, the young people's homeless charity.

Phoebe has proudly been an Ordnance Survey #GetOutside Champion since 2016 in recognition of her work encouraging everyone to enjoy the great outdoors. She is also ambassador for the annual Big Canopy Campout (which helps raise funds for the World Land Trust), as well as Wild Night Out - the UK's national night of adventure. She is thrilled to be the LDWA's President, an organisation which works hard to promote the joys of long distance walking and compiles the ultimate database to all of Britain's fantastic and hard-fought-for paths and rights of way.

It’s her ongoing mission to prove that the UK offers adventure to rival anything you’ll find overseas and that you don’t need to be a beard-sporting, rufty-tufty, I’ll-eat-a-dead-sheep-carcass Bear Grylls type to have an adventure!
