For New Members


Q1. How do I join the LDWA?

A. You can join online by going to the Membership Benefits page, where you will find details of membership fees and types of membership available. Our membership system is managed on our behalf by SiEntries, which can be accessed here.

If you have any questions about membership of the LDWA then please contact our Membership Secretary on membership@ldwa.org.uk. If you have a problem during the membership process then please contact admin@sientries.co.uk.


Q2. Can my children/family join?

A. Yes. ‘Family Membership’ includes any two adults and their children (under 18) living at the same address. Just select “Family” as your membership type when joining.


Q3. What do I get if I join?

A. You’ll get:

  • a copy of Strider, the LDWA magazine, three times a year, which is full of useful articles as well as details of long distance walking events and group walks;
  • full access to our website, which has up to date information on Challenge Events, Group Walks, a library of walking articles, information on Long Distance Paths with special facilities for members, LDWA news and a Forum for walkers to exchange news and views;
  • discounts on most Challenge Events, including the annual LDWA Hundred; and
  • discounts at a number of outdoor shops. Click here for details.

Q4. Who are SiEntries?

A. The LDWA has outsourced their membership management system to SiEntries. SiEntries work with a number of organisations to provide tools and services to help streamline the membership process and to allow members to join and renew online using either credit / debit card or direct debit payments. You can find out more about SiEntries on their website, as well as check out their terms and privacy policy.


Q5. How do I get a membership number?

A. When you join, you will automatically be assigned a membership number. This will be sent to you by email very shortly after you join.


Q6. How do I get a password?

A. As a member of the LDWA you will be given access to 2 logins - one for the LDWA website, and one for SiEntries.

  • LDWA site - which will allow you access to member-only content on the LDWA’s website (e.g. Long Distance Paths, Discounts etc). If you have forgotten your LDWA password a new one can be issued to you. Please go to the Reissue Password page.
  • SiEntries site - which will allow you to access and edit your personal details, change your primary local group and amend your email preferences in the membership site. If you have forgotten your SiEntries password please click here to have a new one issued.

Q7. Can I change my passwords?

A. Yes. You can change your LDWA password by clicking here. You can change your SiEntries password by clicking here.


Q8. How do I access my Membership Card?

A. Your membership card will be posted out to you upon joining. In addition, an electronic version of your membership card can be downloaded to your smartphone and other devices. It can also be printed off. Click here to access and print off your electronic membership card.


Q9. When will I receive a copy of the Strider Magazine?

A. Strider is sent out to our members 3 times a year, in April, August and December. The latest edition will be posted out to you upon joining.

Q10. How do I change my membership details?

A. Our membership system is managed on our behalf by SiEntries. You can edit your membership by clicking here, or by going to the Update My Details section of the SiEntries Website.


Q11. I have forgotten my password - how do I get a new one?

A. If you have forgotten your LDWA password a new one can be issued to you. Please go to the Reissue Password page.

Q12. I have changed my email address, what should I do?

A. You can access, and change, your email address here.


Q13. I have changed my bank details, what do I do?

A. You can access, and change, your bank details here.


Q14. I've lost my membership card, how do I get a new one?

Q15. How do I opt out of receiving a paper copy of Strider?

A. To stop receiving a paper copy of Strider please edit your membership on SiEntries here.

You can view electronic copies of past and future copies of Strider online by clicking here.


Q16. Can I purchase membership as a gift for someone?

A. Yes. Please contact the Membership Secretary on membership@ldwa.org.uk to arrange a gift membership.
