Two Crosses Challenge Event 2013/14
The Two Crosses Challenge Event
Each year we host a 17 and 25 mile challenge event. Both routes visit the Roman Cross at Affetside and the Pilgrim's cross on Holcombe Moor above the Rossendale valley. This year the event was held on Sunday March 23rd. The conditions were challenging to say the least. Snow was evident on the higher ground and parts of the route were extremely muddy. The entrants spirits were not deterred by this and we have received many positive comments about the overall running of the event and the refreshments provided. The date for next years Two Crosses will be announced soon. See below for some comments:-
I just felt I had to write to congratulate all those involved in the two crosses challenge today. It is the first time that I have taken part and I was so impressed by the organisation of the whole event - form car parking stewards, registration, checkpoints to the hospitality at the end. Everyone of the volunteers was cheerful and encouraging despite what must have been a pretty cold job, particularly in some of the exposed locations. I will certainly be pencilling in the date for next year. Please pass on my thanks to all concerned
Just a quick note to thank you and your team for allowing us to take part and for a very well organised event, you should be justifiably proud of them all, we all returned safely if a little tired and muddy but glad of the opportunity and the experience of being able to take part.
Many thanks once again for all your efforts
From the welcome by your team the moment you walk through the door, there's something very special about the whole atmosphere of this event.
I've done 20 of these Two Crosses events now, from the days of Derek Magnall, but this year the conditions underfoot were the worst I have ever known.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the 28th Two Crosses today. It was really well organised and well marshalled and everyone was so friendly. The food afterwards was excellent! It is the first time we've done it but will definitely be back. If you could send me a copy of the results that would be great. Thanks once again for a great event. Well done!
The date for 2015 will be Sunday March 22nd. Please make a note in your diary now either to help on the event or enter it! Click the link for the 2105 entry form. We look forward to seeing you on the day.
