Publisher's Information 2019

The Geopark Way Trail Guide begins with an overview of the route of the trail, followed by descriptions of the geology, rock categories, geological time and geological processes along the Geopark Way.

The main body of the guidebook focuses on the trail itself with descriptions of where to go and what to see while walking.

The trail is split into 17 easily walkable sections. The text for each section includes:

Route map and directions.
Descriptions of the geology and landscape in an easily accessible way to all readers, including those with no experience of earth sciences.
Interpretation of sites and views through diagrams, photographs, line drawings and artist's impressions of past environments.
Encouragement of the reader to use their imagination to visualize past geological events and circumstances which have led to the formation of rocks and environments as they are seen today.
Explanations of the influence that geology has on the environment, both natural and under human intervention eg wildlife habitats, rocks as natural resources, as building material, aggregates and in use by industrial activity.
Features the diverse character of wildlife, biodiversity, archaeology and historic heritage found along the trail.
The guidebook also has:
A glossary of terms
Contact details for associated organisations
A geological map of the Geopark and its surroundings

The guidebook emphasises the need to conserve the special area covered by the tail and to maintain a sustainable environment for the future. Nature conservation organisations and sites are indicated where appropriate along the trail.

A free online Visitor Guide which accompanies the Geopark Way guidebook gives details of accommodation, places to eat, tourist attractions and information points, events, outdoor activity centres and hire companies, nature reserves and travel options along the Geopark Way.

The Geopark Way is also included on OS digital mapping.
