Castles, hillforts, old churches. a former Cistercian Abbey and a narrow gauge steam railway all lie beside the trail, which starts beside Offa’s Dyke at Knighton and ends beside a canal at Welshpool.
The trail connects with the coast path at Machynlleth, and also visits the town of Llanidloes, the villages of Llanbrynmair and Meifod and the dams of of the very scenic reservoirs of Llyn Clywedog and Llyn Vyrnwy.
