Founded over 80 years ago, Stobart Davies is a specialist, independent British publisher and distributor of books on wood and woodworking skills appealing to both amateur and professional craftsmen. We also publish occasional specialist niche subject books. Stobart Davies’ imprint Sigma Press publishes local interest books, walking and cycling guides.

For many years, the Stoke/Newcastle-under-lyme Rambler's Group has worked closely with Staffordshire County Council to maintain public rights of way in the North Staffordshire area. In more recent times, the authors have utilised volunteers to devise and record linear walks following the course of Staffordshire rivers and to include short circular walks along the length of those watercourses.
