Buzzard on named orange discsShropshire Way - North Route

Shropshire

114 km / 71 miles
The northern section of the Shropshire Way provides a contrast to the hilly southern section and will take you to meres and mosses and along canals. The only hills on this section are Grinshill and Nesscliffe Hill with its ancient hill fort.

Starting at Kingsland Bridge in Shrewsbury, the first part of the route is shared with the southern loop as far as Haughmond. The route then continues to Wem, Ellesmere, Llanymynech and returns to Shrewsbury along the Severn Way.

There is an option of taking a route to Whitchurch to link to the Sandstone Trail.

The Shropshire Way website gives a brief outlines of an alternative route into Wem, an option to rejoin the main route from the Whitchurch spur, and a detour to the historic town of Oswestry using Wat's Dyke Path.
