Lancashire Trail

116 km / 72 miles

Gtr Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, N Yorkshire
A route linking industrial Lancashire with the Pennine Way National Trail, the Lancashire Trail passes Billinge, Abbey Lakes, the viewpoints of Ashurst's Beacon and Harrock Hill, Coppull Moor, Blackrod and Rivington Pike. A relatively low-lying section follows via Abbey village and Mellor before reaching Whalley and the climb to Pendle Hill, from where the route descends to Barley. Link routes from the centres of Wigan, Bolton and Burnley, to and from the Ribble Way at Sawley, and to the Sandstone Trail are described.
