Named signs with logoGreen Chain Walk

Gtr London

64 km / 40 miles
The Green Chain Walk provides a link between the River Thames and many of the open spaces in South-East London. The walk, which can also be started from the Thames Barrier or Erith riverside, caters for several variations of route in achieving the link as it passes through Oxleas Wood and Mottingham to terminate at either Crystal Palace or Chislehurst.

Though there is inevitably some street walking, there is a surprising amount of woodland, grassland, park and garden and some interesting heritage sites are passed, such as Eltham Palace.

The 'daisy chain' layout of the route enables many options for circular and linear walks. Between Maryon Park, Charlton and Crystal Palace the route is in common with the Capital Ring and at the Thames riverside it links to the Thames Path and the Thames Path Extension.
