Edgar Eastall's Church 'Fields' Way

Starting from Panfield the route links the churches in a cluster of eight settlement names ending in 'field' found by Edgar Eastall near his home in Braintree, a search provoked by his son’s move to Hudders'field'. The detailed route description, adverbially enlivened, includes schematic maps. Using public transport the route can provide two midweek linear outings each of around 20 miles from Bocking to Wethersfield and back. Longer circular options are possible using part of Anita’s Mucking Ugly Ways through Essex that crosses it. A keen Rambler, Eastall also co-authored the Mansell Way, intersected by this route.
