Dartmoor Way

A route around Dartmoor linking hamlets, villages and towns with a variety of scenery including wild upland, sheltered valleys and quiet lanes. Two routes exist, one for walkers and the other for cyclists. The walkers' route is coincident with the Tarka Trail between Sticklepath and Okehampton and with the West Devon Way between Okehampton and Tavistock.

The original walkers' route dates from 2000. The route is no longer marked on OS maps as it is not waymarked, but a new extended route may be marked on OS maps in future. This will be waymarked during 2019. This project is a joint Ramblers/Dartmoor National Park Authority initiative. The project will create a walking route around the perimeter of Dartmoor. The perimeter route is 100 miles and there is a cross-moor route to create a figure-of-eight to provide many alternative ways to enjoy the special qualities of Dartmoor. This re-launch will extend the route around the Southern moor to create the full circular route.
