North Berwyn Way

Denbighshire

A linear trail that climbs and traverses the wild North Berwyn Mountains to the south of the River Dee between Llangollen and Corwen. It is a challenging route for experienced walkers and it is essential to be properly equipped. The route is split into five sections that start and finish at easily accessible points. It crosses a major area of upland heath - high heather moorland - passing the walk's highest point (Moel Fferna, 630m, not the highest point in the Berwyns) across a landscape used for centuries for slate quarrying and grouse shooting and more recently forestry.

It can be combined with the Dee Valley Way to form a circular walk of some 30 miles, or using link paths shown there are shorter options. Details of both walks (schematic maps) are obtainable from the website below.
