Named signpostsNene Way

Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Peterborough

183 km / 114 miles
A route along the Nene Valley including canalised riverbank passing through Northampton, Wellingborough, Oundle, Peterborough and Wisbech. See website below for route through Northamptonshire.

At Badby, Northamptonshire, the waymarked Knightley Way (12 miles and included on OS mapping) visits Foxley, Farthingstone and Fawsley Park to end at Greens Norton at the end of the Grafton Way (see North Bucks Way). At Sutton Bridge there is a link with the Peter Scott Walk (10 miles and on OS mapping) that remembers the famous naturalist who lived at the lighthouse. At Wadenhoe, the linking Lyveden Way (10 miles) includes Fermyn Woods Country Park, Lyveden New Bield, an Elizabethan lodge and moated garden, and Wadenhoe.

OCTOBER 2023: We have been informed that the riverside route of the Nene Way has been fenced off where it meets South Bridge in Northampton at grid reference SP 755 598. While this closure is in place, a suggested (west to east) diversion would be: cross the river via a footbridge c250m east of South Bridge, proceed west along the opposite river bank, cross South Bridge to rejoin the Nene Way on the west side of the road bridge.
UPDATE December 9th 2023: the fencing is reported to have been removed.
