Ah, Rebecca – Tollund Man complained about the Peatlands Way also. And he ended up underneath it - better skip that Challenge next year.

And Chris: two, no, four complaints: well, we've got a little list, we've got a little list, of complaining Challenge walkers who might well be underground, and who never would be missed, who never would be missed.

I still have the Stansted Stagger to do, but provisionally (out of the 15 I did)

Best Food (Quantity and Quality) - Oxon Walks 40
Worst Food (Quantity) - Black Mountains Roundabout
Worst Food (Quality) - Northumberland 100*
Thirstiest - RAF Pathfinder March (14 litres!)
Best Organised - Wye Forest 50
Best Scenery (Day) - Afoot in Two Dales / Black Mountains Roundabout (tie)
Best Scenery (Night) - Three Forests Way
Best Badge - Three Forests Way
Fastest - Poppyline 50 (best weather too)

* to be fair, I didn't eat the chilli on the Wye Forest 50 or the sausage rolls on the Fellsman, both of which were probably worse than the dreaded meat pies.

I can't say any of the events were BADLY organised, though there were a few missing self-clips and dodgy descriptions here and there. Not bad at all, considering. Looking forward to next year, and the Dorset Giant, Cant Canolbarth etc.

I have finished challenge walks for 2006 so am suggesting some 'bests' from the 16 I did.
Best for food, route description, check points, Ponton Plod.
Best for scenery weather and route Wensleydale Wedge.
Best for overnight accomodation Poppyline 50.
Best for quality of paths underfoot Daffodil Dawdle.
Best for wind, rain and pain Calderdale Hike.
Best for speed The Woldsman.
But they were all good.
