There are further inconsistencies which are possibly best ignored when bagging, but may be of interest to people who are intersted in the old counties and how they have chaged.There is an article in this pdf with a link to an alternative list which is
These tops were from the pre 1895 tidying up of county boundaries whth some Parish swaps
Only Cambridgeshire and Selkirk are significanlty different from the Muirs list
The old top for Selkirk was Dun Rigg. A trig point near Castle Camps was the old top for Cambridgeshire.

The list on Hill Bagging is slightly different from Johny Muir’s book. They give different locations for Hertfordshire and Middlesex
Looking at the 1:25,000 map I think Hill Bagging is more likely to be correct.
