Thanks for taking the trouble to post that, Mark - it works perfectly, and I shall feel happier on the event for having it as I don't know the area at all.

Thought I'd managed to download from viewranger before, but can't see a way to do it now! I've tried saving a track at https://www.dropbox.com/s/13kybqpwlx0mlgs/Spring_in_Lakeland.gpx?dl=0
Does that work. This was from a private walking of the route last year, so starts and finishes in a different part of Ambleside. It also includes a slight diversion over Black Crag, and a trip to Ambleside Tesco.

The trouble with ViewRanger - as far as I can make out - is that it requires me to purchase credits that I then spend on routes, and the minimum credit purchase seems to be £15. I don't feel like paying that for one gpx file when for most events they are free.

Is there such a thing as a gpx file for this event?
