You may have seen the one-hour BBC TV feature recounting Jo's walk for Sport Relief. It wasn't stated why she or they chose to do it in January, but the weather was foul, the worst of one of the winter storms over the south Pennines. Jo wishes to apologise for the swearing and mega-gumpiness, some of it captured on film.

In much better weather but no less of an achievement, this one during March, was a 131-mile walk for Sport Relief - tied together at the ankle - through Yorkshire by Look North reporters Harry Gration and Paul Hudson. This may have been the longest three-legged long distance walk ever completed, some of it on narrow footpaths with stiles and kissing gates.

Two (or three) positive walking-related contributions, today.

Jo Brand has completed her 135 miles in 7 continuous days Trans Pennine Trail walk from Hull to Liverpool for Sport Relief. Even with the help of her minders, physios and TV team, pretty good for a non-walker. (But she is, now.)

"The human mind is an interesting piece of apparatus. In your head, when you know you have something to do, you sort of set a kind of mind compass that allows you just to do that much.” Quoted in the Liverpool Echo.
