Our third annual event will take place in just under 3 weeks - after a slow start booking are taking off rapidly

Come and explore the new forest being planted in the Heart of Warwickshire nearly 2 million trees planted to date- become part of this great project- as for everyone entering/volunteering we will enable 2 trees to be planted in the new forest. You will pass the trees we planted last year and next year come back and see how your trees are faring. For more information visit our web site www.forestmarathon.org.uk

Although the event is primarily for walkers we have tried to make it more runner friendly - so in addition to a route description maps and a gpx file we have marked the route with small florescent arrows - if you're looking for them they jump out and bite you !! if you're not you won't see them- We even organise our marshals walk after the event so we can collect the 100's of arrows used.

Our aim is to put trees in the ground and last year we were able to plant over 1000 trees- but this will never be at the expense of taking care of entrants and you will find checkpoints piled high with cakes, quiche, fruit and even bacon sandwiches - With a hearty meal at the end.

Only 2 weeks to go to the second "Heart of England Forest Marathon" - this time we're pledging 2 trees planted in the new forest for every entrant and volunteer. We've been allocated a new planting site which is on the course so next year you'll walk/run past the trees you've caused to be planted. Catering is as last year - our motto in line with Marie Antoinette is "Let them eat cake" but we've also added a bacon sandwich at breakfast quiche at lunch and vegetarian lasagne back at the school all this and a chance to see and be part of the largest native forest project of the last 2 century's. A chance to explore the new forest being replanted on the site of the once mighty Forest of Arden, with the added bonus that for every entrant we will plant an additional tree in the new forest. Our web site www.hofe-forestmarathon.co.uk gives more information and allows online entry through the sportident web site. Although entry includes planting a tree there will still be enough in the kitty to provide "hearty fare" at 5 checkpoints (cake stop included) and a meal (vegetarian lasagne) at the finish. Hurry though as places are limited and booking is brisk. Note that the Forest is called the "Heart of England Forest" and the organisers are in the main members of the "Heart of England LDWA" but the event is not a Heart of England LDWA event - because of the tree planting element it was decided to form a separate "Heart of England Forest Marathon Association" to administer the event. Hope that clears up any confusion.
