The 36th Winter Tanners will be on January 12th 2014 from Leatherhead with 20 and 30 mile routes. This is a popular but tough winter event. Entry will be wholly on-line and entries opened today 8th October. Even with 450 places, entry tends to close early (? November). LDWA members would be well advised to get their entries in shortly to avoid disappointment; it will not be possible to squeeze extras in once the event is full! For entry see

Marshals

The event can only be successful if there are sufficient marshals for the start and three checkpoints. We desperately need more marshals. Many of our longstanding marshals are no longer available (particularly for an outdoor winter event) and we need new faces in the team. Marshalling is easy and there will be experienced marshals to show newcomers what to do. This is an opportunity to put something back into walking. Perhaps you have a partner, friend or family member who can help? If you marshal you don’t have to miss out on the event. The marshals’ walk will provide an opportunity to walk most of the 20 mile route as a social walk and to qualify for a proper Winter Tanners 2014 certificate. The Marshal’s Walk will be on Saturday 4th January details on Surrey Group website

Only marshals can enter that walk.
