Westmorland & North Lancs social walk on Sunday is your last chance to walk on the Lake District fells while they still have their beautiful winter coats on. There is still a good depth of snow on the fell tops but there is now very little below 500 metres and what there is can generally be avoided. The snow is soft and grippy but put a pair of microspikes in your rucksack if you have them.
Progress will be slower in the snow so the walk has been reduced in length to 14 miles, omitting the slog up Great Calva, and is now classed as Moderate rather than Hard. There is a cutoff available to reduce it further to 10 miles.
I can offer a lift to Mungrisdale from Kendal at 7.30/7.45. My telephone number is in Strider page 88.
