Weren't we lucky! On Friday night we were debating cancelling the event (checkpoints cut off by snow, A590 blocked by jack-knifed lorries, 100+ motorists stranded on Lindale hill), but the forecast was for a rapid thaw late on Saturday so we crossed our fingers and hoped. Lo and behold the eight inches of snow had disappeared by Sunday morning, the sun came out (according to my solar power monitor it was the brightest day for over a month) and despite a keen wind and a few boggy bits everyone seemed to enjoy their day out in Cumbria.

Many thanks to the 238 walkers and runners who made it to the start. No shows were around the norm for a late January event. Particular thanks to the group of runners who helped Lindsay Harrod off Whitbarrow Scar after she damaged her ankle in a fall. Unfortunately an x-ray showed a broken fibula and Lindsay will be out of action for a couple of months.
