Is the Celtic Way walkable? Here's why I'd like to know.

I am planning to walk from Lands End to Cape Wrath, starting in March. The route in Andy Robinson's book looks good but I'm not all that keen on the roller coaster character of the coast path. So for the first bit I'm considering cutting east across Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor to pick up the south part of the coast path (briefly) before heading north (via Honiton, Taunton, Bridgwater etc.

As far as I can make out, I would be following the Celtic Way for the first part of the route. Is there anyone out there who has walked this? If so - what's it like.

All views and advice welcome.
