There are no social walks to tell you about for a few weeks - the next walk on the programme will be Suzina's Walk my Walk from Welwyn Garden City of 12th June, followed by Eddie's Woods, Esplanade & Prittle Brook Path from Eastwood on Wednesday 15th June.
There will be more information on these in the next email update and in the Future Walks section on our website .
The LDWA 50th Anniversary
A reminder that we have a number of events planned to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the LDWA. We have brought all the details of these together in the LDWA 50 Anniversary section of our website, but here is a brief recap:
I spy 50 for 50
How are you getting on with Essex & Herts I Spy list? Anyone half-way yet? Is there something that you are finding difficult to spot? Use Facebook to show others what you have seen.
Don't forget that you can only tick off something that you see on one of Essex & Herts walks - so get out on one of our Social Walks or sign up for the Herts Hobble (there's sure to be something to spot over 26 miles!)
Leaders - make sure you tell your group that they will be able to find something on the I Spy list during your walk. Or why not plan a future walk with I Spy items in mind?
Happy 'spying'.
Essex and Herts Figure of Eight Sunday 19th June
A 20 mile figure of eight walk from Sawbridgeworth, planned for the LDWA's 50th Anniversary Big Walk Weekend. The morning walk will be in Herts, the afternoon walk in Essex and both have sections along the River Stort, which forms the boundary between our two counties. Come along for a full or half day's walking and help the LDWA in their aim to get several thousand members out walking and socialising together over this special weekend.
Essex Way Relay Saturday Saturday -2nd to Sunday 3rd July
This one's a Double 50 celebration as The Essex Way is also 50 years old this year. Peter Tremain has divided the 82 mile route into 5 stages with five different leaders, and we plan to walk the full length in a relay over the weekend. Join us for as many or as few stages as you like. All the details are here Essex Way Relay Please get in touch with Peter Tremain (peter.tremain@live.co.uk ) if you would like to be part of this special occasion or if you have any queries around the logistics.
Keith Noble 50K Memorial Walk Sunday 28th August
A longer social walk that was originally planned to take place in 2020 in memory of Keith Noble who did so much for the Essex and Herts Group. The walk will start from Hertford and will be based on the Hertfordshire Way Legs 10 Hertford to Cuffley,10A Cuffley to Broxbourne and 10B Broxbourne to Hertford. The full “official” Leg 10s combine to be about 37 miles but for our purpose this will be reduced to 31 (50K). For anyone wishing to do part of the route there are rail links between Hertford North station and Cuffley and also Hertford East station and Broxbourne and other stations on the route.
