Rugeley Trent Valley station. Postcode WS15 3HA

From Rugeley TV station (NOT Rugeley Town – you have been warned!). Following the Trent & Mersey Canal before entering Cannock Chase at Beggar’s Hill. Across the whole extent of the Chase, calling in at the Visitors’ Centre, exiting at Castle Ring hill fort. Heading then for Chasewater Country Park, following the reservoir around to Brownhills Common. Then joining the Wyreley and Essington Canal, and leaving it to descend the lock flight to the Walsall Canal basin. From there it’s a short walk to Walsall station for direct trains back to Rugeley or towards Birmingham

General Notes
Direct train from Birmingham New Street (dep 07:40) via Walsall arrives 08:38; walk will commence shortly after its arrival. Day return from New Street costs £11.20 (at time of writing). Very limited car parking at Rugeley TV station, (£4.20 on weekdays), leave time to park elsewhere in Rugeley if necessary and walk back to station. The end of the walk at Walsall station is on the same line
