Walks Secretary - Nomination

At our AGM in December, Andy Todd will be stepping down after doing an outstanding job as Walks Secretary over the past four years. Following last month's request, we are pleased to announce that we have our first nomination for this important position, i.e. Bruce Barclay.

Walk Leaders Needed

From Andy Todd:

"The list leaders I have for walks from January to April 2020 is looking very thin. Walks will take place if someone is prepared to lead them.

The following Sunday walk dates need to be filled:

  • Sunday 2nd February
  • Sunday 16th February
  • Sunday 1st March
  • Sunday 15th March
  • Sunday 19th April

In addition, all of the Thursday walks need a leader:

  • Thursday 16th January
  • Thursday 20th February
  • Thursday 19th March
  • Thursday 16th April

Please contact me at andy@andytodd.org.uk to volunteer your services."

Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Xmas Meal

From Lesley Bellis:

This year’s Xmas Meal and AGM will be held at the Royal Oak, Wootton Rivers, Marlborough SN8 4NQ.

The plan is to meet at the pub to start our walk at 0900hrs, led by John Walker. There is additional parking at the village hall just a few yards further on from the pub. We will return to the pub by 1230ish and, after a quick change and the opportunity to buy a drink, the meal will be served at 1330hrs. We have used this venue on several occasions and the food is excellent.

I will be going to the Royal Oak in the next few weeks to get the menus which will be published in the next newsletter. All your menu choices will need to be sent to me by 1st November.

All members who have contributed either a walk or marshaled at a checkpoint will receive a subsidy towards their meal. Clive will be sending out the formal notification for the AGM in the next week or two.

Wiltshire 50 Group Walk

From Andy Todd:

"This is happening on 12-13th October, starting in Devizes.

A number of people have paid, for this and a larger number have said they might. For those thinking about the walk please remember that numbers are limited, so please book. I don't want to have to turn away Wiltshire group members.

The walk is group walk, so follows normal group walk rules. The full distance is 50 miles, but there is an option of getting as far as the first hall and then returning to the start (~23 miles). Lesley has offered to keep us all well fed.

Please contact me at andy@andytodd.org.uk to book your place, or for more information. The Wiltshire LDWA Payment Site is now accessible via the Wiltshire LDWA web site."
