Ask Me Another One (A Wainwright Wander Walk)

After much snow, these two Wainwrights turned ut to be a great choice for the conditions which included a reasonably light dusting of snow at low level and some quite deep stuff higher on the fells.

We met at a rather Chilly Askham and gradually wandered up onto Heughscar Hill to take in the views over Ullswater and up onto the Helvellyn Range which certainly boasted a good covering of snow.  Then we covered some rather tussocky ground to get down to Brampton Green where we received a very warm welcome in the pub.  It took a bit of effort to force us back outside after getting settled by the roaring log fire, reviewing their rather good collection of walking books.  But eventually we realised if we didn't shift ourselves we would not have cars to go home, and we shivered our way out and up to Knipescar, another great viewpoint.  A rather slippy descent took us down to the environs of Lowther Park and the woodland alongside the River Lowther and back to Askham.

The tea shop in Askham was another treat for some of us, where a rush of diary planning saw us filling up the diaries for much of the year - well, that's what January walks are all about!
