Marsden. Saturday 9th February 2019. Distance - 17 miles. 8 walkers. Leader - Abi MacDonald.

We were not sure what to expect today as we travelled to Marsden with Storm Erik still in full flight, and closed roads, fallen trees and debris everywhere to be seen.
Debutant West Yorkshire walk's leader Abi MacDonald and seven others braved the severe weather elements, and conquered her circuit in a creditable 6 hours 30.
Well done Abi, a super walk and a great day out, finished off with a couple of pints in the Riverhead Brewery Tap.
Here's to many more.

A very wet and windy day. We got soaked coming off Horse Head Pass and it didn't look as though it was going to improve so we made a decision to cut short.

Only the magnificent seven braved this one today, with a forecast of only 11/12 degrees and a light breeze and rain showers all day, not good for early June.
It was a case of a flashback from the Hadrian's Hundred for some of us, the forecast was slightly wrong, it did in fact rain for most of the day and was pretty cold and miserable on the tops. So what a welcome invitation from Anne Webb (South Pennine Group) who lives on today's route and invited us all in for fresh baked scones and coffee.
Many thanks to Anne for your kind hospitality and to Abi for a great walk, which we will have to do again in better weather.

Brighouse. Saturday 27th July 2019. Distance - 24 miles. 12 walkers. Leader - Karen Pickersgill.

Twelve walkers, and Stripe the dog, joined us on this 24 mile walk which incorporated parts of the Brighouse Boundary Way, the Calderdale Way and the Kirklees Way.
Passing through the lovely villages of Norwood Green, Shelf, Southowram, Fixby, Bradley, Hartshead and Clifton – the highlight of the walk was the Shibden Valley where we visited Shibden Hall (which featured in the recent BBC dramatization of the life of Anne Lister – Gentleman Jack).
True to the forecast, we had very heavy rain from late morning onwards which resulted in having to navigate flooded roads and fords!
A great day out despite the weather.

Ilkey. Saturday 3rd August 2019. Distance - 22 miles. 21 walkers. Leaders - Jacqueline Cooper & Roger Mahony.

A few new members and visitors from Lancashire, South Pennines, Nidderdale and Beds, Bucks and Northants groups swelled the numbers for today's walk.
Fears that the route may have had to be altered on the day due to the heavy downpours during the week for our river stepping stone crossing at Burley was not necessary because the river level had gone down quite considerably, and the steps were proud and good to cross.
On our way then and up to Beamsley Beacon via Askwith, Ellarcarr Pike, and Round Hill, then down to the cricket ground at Addingham for lunch.
The afternoon section was a climb up to Windgate Nick and the Skyline walk back to Burley via Long Ridge End, Buck Stones, Whetstone Gate and the Twelve Apostles Stone circle.
Many thanks to Jacqs and Roger for a smashing walk.

Pannal. Sunday 11th August 2019. Distance - 21 miles. 11 walkers. Leader - Tim Rollett.

On the 11th August we joined forces with Nidderdale LDWA to walk a ring around Harrogate. 11 walkers benefited from ideal conditions as we made good time to do the 19 mile route. Lunch was enjoyed at Knaresborough riverside where a few walkers went to a café for a coffee.

Haworth. Sunday 25th August 2019. Distance - 26 miles. 9 walkers. Leader - Kevin Hudson.

A tough walk made even tougher by the blistering hot weather conditions. We were very grateful to the farmer at Walshaw Dean for filling up our empty water bottles, further refreshment was had at the Fleece Hotel on our return to Haworth.

Evening walk.

Gargrave. Saturday 7th September 2019. Distance - 23 miles. 7 walkers. Leader - Ralph Warman.

One Foot in the Gargrave marshal's walk.

A disappointing show for this one today, only 5 Marshals on board but for the ones that turned out a good day was had, marching round in the warm autumnal sunshine.
Many thanks again to Stuart and Sandra for the checkpoint at Street Gate, catering for us on route their usual super treats and drinks.
And what a star Stuart is, getting to the checkpoint thinking he had a half full bottle of gas and then to find that it was in fact completely empty. So what did he do, he made a fire and boiled up water to supply us with hot tea and coffee.
Star, Star, Star, many thanks again S & S.

A good dry Autumnal day for this one as we left Burnsall on Jane's 24 mile circuit via Thorpe, Linton and Threshfield Moor to Malham Cove.
The return journey was via Watlowes, Mastiles Lane, Wood Nook, Threshfield and the Dales Way riverside path from Grassington back to Burnsall.

A bumper turnout of 31 on today's walk including LDWA members from Suffolk, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire and East Lancs.
Clear and sunny conditions made for good walking, although a few fields were still muddy after the wet weather of early December. A lunch stop at Golden Acre park was welcome as the café was open!
