Earby. Saturday January 28th 2017. Distance - 17 miles. 10 walkers. Leader - Bryan Wiseman.

A damp and wet start to the day as we ventured past Barnoldswick Marina (a close second to the marina at Monte Carlo) on our first climb of the day up Occupation Lane heading towards Weets Top Hill.
A quick break in Kelbrook then up and over the moor to have a nice dry lunch at the Hare & Hounds in Lothersdale. Suitably refreshed we then climbed up to Pinhaw on the Pennine Way, returning to Earby in slightly better conditions than the morning.
Thanks to everyone that turned up, including a new Lady walker from Earby.

Otley. Saturday February 11th 2017. Distance - 20 miles. 13 walkers. Leader - Ralph Warman.

No surprise view this morning, just thick mist and a forecast of wintery snow showers, however it didn't deter 13 hardy walkers who turned up to tackle Ralphs Otley Orbit.
We visited Pool, Armscliffe Crag, Little Armscliffe Crag, Dob bridge and Clifton and the sting in the tail steps back up the Chevin top was a real test for us all.
With only a short stop in the morning and a quick lunch break we were back by 3.30 and into the warmth of the Royalty for a well earned pint.

Otley. Saturday May 13th 2017. Distance - 30 miles. 16 walkers. Leaders - Julia Greenwood & Ralph Warman.

A nice early start of 8:00am from the centre of Otley. It was good to see Tom who joined us, only 2 weeks after completing the marshals 100 ! - he was accordingly quizzed by most of us asking about the route and conditions etc.
It was raining initially but as we set off the weather improved and waterproofs were very quickly put away, and stayed away ! We had a quick drink and photo at the lovely Dob Park Pack Horse Bridge before a steep ascent up to Norwood. Our mid-morning break was taken in the shelter of Little Almscliffe Crag before we headed over to the main Almscliffe Crag. Then on to the lovely village of North Rigton and then to Kirkby Overblow where we were delighted to see Stuart Charlton (of Nidderdale Group) who had kindly come out to support us with copious amounts of tea and cake - bliss, just what we needed at our half-way stop.
We didn't want to leave, but eventually set off to the lovely grounds of Harewood House and then on to Bramhope before our descent to Pool Bank via beautiful bluebell filled woods and back to Otley.
Just shy of 30 miles - and so an early entry in to the local Wetherspoons for most of us !
Thanks to everyone who came along.

Bingley St. Ives. Saturday November 11th 2017. Distance - 20 miles. 28 walkers. Leader - Ralph Warman.

A good dry Autumnal day is the right ingredient for a walk in the Yorkshire countryside, and today didn't disappoint.
Wall to wall sunshine and a clear blue sky and views to see for miles around ensured this was going to be a cracking days walking for the 28 who turned up at Bingley St Ives Estate, the number of walkers turning out swelled by members from other LDWA groups.
A brisk pace on the canal to East Morton then a climb out of the valley over Morton moor via the Splendid Sunny Dale reservoir and woods.
A minutes silence was held on Bucking Hill for the 11th of the 11th 99 years remembrance anniversary and then it was over the top to Ilkley and lunch outside the White Wells cafe. Retuning via the Twelve Apostles Stone circle, Dick Hudsons and Shipley Glen and then back up the Aire valley to Bingley.
A well earned pint to finish off a great day was had at the local Chip & Ern by some.

Bramhope. Sunday December 31st 2017. Distance - 15 miles. 39 walkers. Leader - Tim Rollett.

A bumper turnout for the last walk of the year saw 39 walkers, some from other groups of the LDWA, leaving Bramhope for Tim's Annual Hootenany.
A good dry sunny day for walking but very heavy under foot conditions in some places, after the previous few days of rain and snow, made the going tough as we tackled the lanes, fields, and tracks of the circuit around Bramhope, Eccup, Alwoodley and Cookridge.
Lunch was had at the Leeds Donkey Sanctuary, cakes, tea and coffee were available to buy, the proceeds going to a very worthy cause.
Then it was back to Bramhope by 2.30 for drinks at the Fox & Hounds Pub.
