Nuttall Park Aug 27th

Walk leader:   Paul Goodier

No on walk:     13

Distance:        11 miles

Weather:       Fine and quite hot

We started off at Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom and walked past the railway station and then past the recycling plant onto fields that led to Stubbins. From there we walked to Strongstry and then up the old railway line towards Haslingden then branched off to Irwell Vale. Shortly after this we had an unfortunate incident involving a dog and some cows and two of our party had to leave us.

We continued along the river Ogden on to Snig Hole and had lunch at Helmshore Textile Museum. We then went on the Moor Road past Robin Hood's Well and up to the Peel Monument. From there we descended to Holcombe Brook and then followed the Brook downstream and then on top of Brooksbottom Railway Tunnel and back to our base.
