We set off on a beautiful day for walking heading across the moor past Upper Barden Reservoir to Rylstone Cross where we stopped for our first break. It was then on to Cracoe War Memorial (Obelisk) where we stopped for a group shot. The views from here in all directions were quite stunning. We continued north to join the track dropping down east off Burnsall & Thorpe fell past a very well preserved shooting hut. We stopped for lunch on Simm Bottom before dropping down to cross the stream at the ford,  a walker we had passed earlier had assured us it was only a trickle!

We were soon at the tea rooms at Sid Wood where we stopped for ice cream. It was then the crazy hour as we walked from here to Bolton Abbey. Thousands of people were out enjoying themselves on this stretch which was good to see, but we were pleased to get across the bridge and out of the Abbey grounds to get back into the piece and tranquility we had been used to.  The climb up Middle Hare Head was the sting in the tail as we made our way back to our cars.

A great day was had by all.
