Pennine Journey - 9th July

Walk Leader:       Glyn & Julie

Number on walk:  13

Distance:              19 miles

Weather:              Low visability

Thirteen set off in drizzle for what should have been a walk with glorious views following the Pennine Journey. The climb to Ingleborough from Ingleton is 1 hr 40 minutes of climbing with no rest bite. Usually nice views with the breeze from behind..... not this day..... still keeping close together to ensure no one missed the path we made it to our first break on the summit. Setting off the group followed the ridge down to Ribblehead only missing the path for a short time due to the clouds. Once down at Ribblehead we had lunch before the sight of the Cumbrian Steam Train over the viaduct (we were lucky on the timing with this one) Up in the clouds again to the summit of Whernside were we had a small break and then following the long ridge back to Ingleton. Again keeping close together as the visibility seemed worse ( and cold ). Once we came off the ridge we could see Ingleton and the clouds cleared (hmmmmm)... A nice stroll back to Ingleton and the cars for 17.15pm..... Not bad considering the conditions for the day..... Thanks all for joining us on the walk and perhaps a repeat is needed as the views on this walk are superb all day....(honest).....
