Tuesday 11th June

Walk Leader:              Karen

Number on the walk:  12

Distance:                     10 miles

Weather:                     Light rain

We set off from Brindle heading for Hoghton Bottoms where we joined the Witton Weavers Way. We followed this over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, where we stopped for lunch, to just past the M65.  From here we walked past Edge End Farm and then we crossed Oak Royal Golf course. We then headed for Ollerton Fold from where we dropped down to cross the canal again on our way back to Brindle. The weather wasn't as bad as expected with the rain easing at times throughout the walk. All of the recent rain had certainly made everything grow profusely, which meant that most of the fields we crossed were covered in very long wet grass which made the going pretty tough.

The last field we had to cross was full of very inquisitive cattle which kept us all on our toes! Thanks to Julie for being my back marker.
