Hurst Green, March 5th

Walk Leader:         Jane Anthony

Number on walk:    26 + 4 dogs

Distance:               10.5 miles

Weather:              Wet to start, sunny later

We  turned out on a rather damp Tuesday morning but by the time we started walking the rain had stopped and as the morning progressed the sky cleared and we had plenty of spring sunshine. The walk left Hurst Green along the wooded valley path up to Greengore and then continued upwards to Longridge Fell. Felling was in progress so we weren’t able to visit the trig point on the Fell but previous felling provided good views of the Ribble valley as we followed the forest track to Kemple End. After a short stage down Birdy Brow the walk dropped down past Ryddings Farm to the river path and a welcome stop for lunch. From Lower Hodder bridge the route followed the Ribble Way before climbing back up to the Shireburn Arms and back to the cars.
