White Coppice,Jan 29th

Walk Leader:       John Clarke

Number on walk:  15

Distance:             11 miles

Weather:             Snow for most of the walk

The walk commenced at the car park of White Coppice Cricket Club. The initial part was in the direction of Chorley alongside the three Whitters Factory Heapey Lodges, after a short section along the old Whitters Factory railway trackbed it was onto Heald House Lane for a short distance before climbing up to the peak of Healey Nab. Once over the summit we picked up the path that runs along the east face of Healey Nab following it through to Back Lane, Heath Charnock. We followed that lane for a short time before joining a path that runs alongside the west bank of Anglezarke Reservoir. We then crossed between Anglezarke and Upper Rivington Reservoir before joining the lane that runs down into Rivington where lunch was taken close to the Lower Barn.

Post lunch we took the path to Rivington village green before crossing Sheephouse Lane to take the path that follows the contour of the east bank of the Yarrow Reservoir. After crossing Alance Bridge on Parson Bullough Lane we dropped down to the path that runs alongside the east side of Anglezarke Reservoir which was followed to Moor Lane. After crossing the lane it was then only a short walk back to the start point.
