A Plod Around Pendle

Walk Leader: Jean Bobker

Number on walk: 16

Distance: 13.5 miles

Weather: Dull

The group assembled at Downham Car Park... We set off at 9am on the path to the south of Worsaw Hill and quickly arrived at the Calfs Head... Crossing fields and the A59 the group had a couple of detours and headed towards Clitheroe. A couple of horses decided to show us the way then got twitchy when hemmed in so we kept to the fence and they escaped back...

Out of Clitheroe we crossed the A59 and had a nice break in trees just north of the tarmac bridal way from Pendleton. We then followed this route and met a very friendly sheep dog before reaching the village. The group then walked up the hill to the Nick of Pendle and headed due east back to the Pendleton bridal way to Pendleton Hall and Little Mearley Hall.  Leaving the Hall we followed the 'Plod route' and passed through Angram Green, Hookcliffe and Clay House before arriving back at Downham for 15.15 having covered 13.5 miles.
