Weather;             Lovely mild Autumn day

Distance:             11 ½ mile

We set off from the park and ascended steps to reach the motorway bridge, once over we  crossed Manchester Rd to reach Grants Tower where Paul knew a bit about the history. On towards Nangreaves we then picked up the path to Birtle with some really scenic autumn views over the Rossendale valley.

Passing Walmsley Golf course we carried on through Burrs Country Park and the Irwell Valley sculpture trail alongside the river  to Summerseat.

Following the route of the Irwell Valley steam railway we eventually reached Nuttall Park
