Walk from Slaidburn

Walk Leader: Clare & Steve McNeil

No on walk: 7

Distance: 13 miles

7 of us met at 9am and 2 and a dog at 10am. Our paths didn't cross until our return to the car park- a sweet reunion, albeit short! A breezy chilly start gave way to a glorious day. The scenery was beautiful enhanced by the calls of the cuckoos, curlews and peewits.

We left Slaidburn and crossed various fields to the start of the Roman Road where we turned left to Dunsop Head via Dunsop Fell. After a steady climb to the summit we progressed down to Whitendale for a coffee break. There after followed a short sharp climb around Middle Knoll taking us down to the head of the valley where we had our lunch. We headed along the road into Dunsop Bridge adjacent to the River Dunsop.
The River Hodder beckoned and we kept it on our left enroute to Newton and on our right from Newton to Slaidburn.
