Number on walk:       14

Distance:                   12 miles

Weather:                  Bright and sunny, cold with light dusting of powder snow.

At 10am we set off in bright sunshine & light powder snow which was the (icing on the cake) of this very pretty walk. We headed east along the route of the old "Pilling Pig" steam train line crossing the main London to Glasgow line & M6 motorway. We passed Barnacre Church and onto Grizedale entrance to Nicky Nook. The climb was in the sunshine and the ground was firm under foot. We reached the summit around noon & then descended on the cold eastern side with a brisk wind chill. We had lunch @ Syphon Well close to the northern end of Nicky Nook near Holme Wood. This was our only brief flirtation of snow. We then passed Potters Hill and onto Scorton & its picturesque church. We then headed back east for the figure of 8 & crossed the M6 again in both directions; then along Lingart Lane back over the River Wyre footbridge & returning to Garstang @ 3.20pm in bright sunshine.

The walk was enjoyed by all.....
